The Stranger

Chance Encounter

The moment I learnt I’ve won a voucher from tavola I could hardly think. I decided to get hold of it as soon as I could because I love shopping at tavola.

Now the day arrived for me to collect my voucher. It was the day just before I  had plans to visit colombo on a short notice.

I was ready and driven off to the oasis centre where we had to wait till S had some chores done.

I had R and A so was moving around and doing a bit of shopping.

First stop was a donut kiosk and then the tea.

Soon as we were done there we shopped at daiso where I got myself some craft supplies and a baking pan.

It seemed like the tinniest baking pan, yet it was something I’ve been hunting for a long time. Later we drove to grosvenor tower to collect my voucher.

The receptionist at the desk was a bit elderly, tall lady with golden short hair. She was busy over the phone with papers pilled on her desk with pen in the right hand. She gave me a smile and look through her specs as if asking for a moment. As soon as she hung the phone up I asked for ashara. She took my name and the purpose and passed on over the phone.

I was given many smiles by the few staffs who passed by 1 lady was in a tight jeans and a black stripped tshirt and denim jacket  on top. She was around 4.8 and  a bit chubby with brownish golden hair which am sure is highlighted. The others were a bit too taller than myself and thin with long blond hair. There were 2 other male staff who passed by too.

I was waiting for around 15 minutes or more I guess and suddenly a man walked over.

He gave a quick glance at the receptionist.

What is it? Which company are you from? He began.

I introduced myself and told my purpose.

He seemed lost.

My heart started beating fast.

Am I in the right place?

Oh, have they forgotten they asked me to come?

Thousands of thoughts rummaged my heart.

Suddenly I took my email and showed him.

Ashara! He exclaimed in relief.

Sorry, I am ashraf, ashara is inside.

He broke off at the receptionist. She is looking for ashafa not ashraf.

The receptionist blamed me saying I asked for ashraf while she sure did repeat after me the name ashara.

Sometimes people do say lies or are so ignorant that they cannot accept even the simplest mistakes they do.

My mind started racing with too many questions. I have been waiting for 15 minutes only to meet the wrong person. Suddenly ashara walks in and exclaims.

I sure did pass by, why didn’t you call me. She took off at the receptionist.

She sure was busy and dint give a cent for what I was talking.

Finally ashara was the lady who was in tight jeans and denim jacket.

Finally we greeted and exchanged a few words and I  walked out very impatient to check my vouchers.

I opened the envelope and checked for the voucher and was really smiling att the way in the elevator.

Oh my gosh!

A 1000 dirhams voucher to shop at tavola?

Thats kind of a dream come true.

It was the biggest gift won for just a small letter.

Later on I dropped in at mall of the Emirates to do a bit of shopping to go back to colombo.

I sure did have my two kids and was busy as a bee feeding the kids and shopping at times.

I sure did shop at tavola and got a few things for myself.

After all my work was done I walked towards the prayer section which has been moved to the top most level which is a bit of a hassel for those with kids. As the entrance is through the parking.

I walked towards the parking lot and saw a cleaner and asked for the way to the prayer room.

He insisted to help me and asked me to follow.

He even requested to push the pram. The weather was very hot and it’s not very easy to even walk in a parking lot. It’s like being steamed.

He strolled my stroller and guided me towards the prayer hall. I sometimes feel very sad to reward someone by cash as sometimes some may not like it. So I had to hand over a latte which I already had as a reward. The worker took it with a thank you and checked on the bottle. It was a Starbucks latter in a bottle.he smiled in glee as he saw the bottle.

Happiness lays in seeing others happy

These are a few chance encounters that helped me make this story. There have been many instances where people do help me with my baby stroller.

This time I was with two kids but when I was with nust the eldest one and had to go for an interview. A couple of ladies travelling to work helped my keep my son occupied by showing him videos and coming along with me to drop me at the destination.

That was just an unforgettable chance Encounter I’ve ever had. Who would even bother to care if am alone? People might wonder why do I have to travel with a baby. But passions needs it’s time or I may feel sad. There are no barriers to achieve our mind is the barrier.

Chance Encounter

Grab the Opportunity

It was the first time I flew on a plane all alone by myself ( as in without my own family members) obviously there was the pilot, crew and passengers. Yet flying in the sky with no idea what can happen but just a destination and no friends or family to keep you occupied with just a small chat for 4 hours and 15 minutes was a bit of a new experience for me. Yes that was an experience which I badly wanted and the day came after I got married. I always kept  the saying

“self-confidence is the pre-requisite for great under takings” samuel johnson

In my mind.

It’s what I included in most of my letters to the editors whom I sent letters to write and get published. Little did I know that world is diverse with opportunities all over for those who really strive and work hard. I depended on the print media thinking that’s the only place to get published. Dubai has shown me the way to explore and know alternative ways of getting things done and achieving my goals. Dubai is diverse where we meet various people from all over the world and everone has something to highlight. Each person you meet or each place you visit has something new to be explored.

An explorer can learn and get new ideas just by checking out the shelves of a supermarket. Ideas are all over the world in a variety of ways and forms yet it takes just a few minutes to stop, think and discover.

Diversity is in everything food to books and people to earth but all it takes is a humans interest. If you discover what your interested don’t look for it in one angle just check it out and think in 10 ways or more. I did and now I found that Bloggingis what I fit into, a platform to publish, an audience to read and the freedom to work from anywhere at anytime.

Final conclusion wordpress is a diverse platform 🙂

The Stroller blogger

I don’t have a picture of myself witha stroller so I drew it 🙂

I started of cooking and posting then i moved on to sharing photographs.  Later it became restaurant reviewing in the meantime I did attend a few events that all had a great impact in my food blogging journey.

This is where my stroller came to light. I started off strolling over the blog with names that interested me and suddenly one day I thought all these names had no uniquenessin them. Then didn’t say a thing about my blog or didn’t reflect on myself.

This is where the new name “Explorewithmafaza” came up and I am sure everyone likes it.

I may have stolled from one name as a shopaholic travel diary to travel and food worldwide and then the recipe writer. But explore with mafaza is the real meaning of my blog. Yes, everything I post here is something I explore everyday or something I like you to explore with me. Explore is a word that reflects my blogger in me. I enjoy exploring for which I  need to travel and as a mother of 2 kids I have to either keep them and go or take them along. This is where my next stroller comes as a rescue. Yes I have attended the italian cuisine world summit in 2014 with eldest boy at age 1 believe me it was a challenge. I know some might have wondered why on earth did I bring a kid in to a masterclass but trust me I did manage him and the class. The people who attended were very helpful too and they all loved my kid. Then I did attend a restaurant launch with my eldest. Later I was perg eith the 2nd which made me take a break and again I attended  a restaurant review and media tasting with both my boys and the stroller was a great help to atleast kee one in place. I wish I had a twin stroller.

I strolled the streets of dubai with my stroller a “quiny zap extra” and now a “juniors” and Ilike the handle of the zap while the juniors is more travel friendly.

Well yes I stroll the streets and roads of dubai with my stroller. I enjoy it but 2 kids for travel is not an easy think to handle so I have limited my ling distance travel. I would go anywhere if i can bring my stroller along and if it’s not allowed I’d rather stay home and cook up a meal or watch some television or even create a blog post.

There have been instances where people used to ask in comments if it was me with a stroller.

Don’t laugh

My kids love travelling as much as I do and I make sure they are comfortable.

To top it all my inspiration is the news that said a minister of a country bought her 10 month old baby to the parliament.

A little bit of sacrifice

There is nothing wrong in a little bit of sacrifice.nothing is lost when you sacrifice a bit of your time to laugh and play with a child in return you get the best memories. Life is short to sacrifice but life is never gonna stop from going fast just because we didn’t please someone who deserve it.

Sacrificing is a valuable characteristic which can be given to those at times of need. It’s a big challenge to sacrifice something yet a gift to be able to sacrifice.

A dad sacrifices his time and energy to earn for his family while the mother puts in everything to make everyone happy.

I have started to realise that letting our kids enjoy a bit of water, sand and outdoors is a big Sacrifice that not all parents can accept. Trust me i was one such parent. I hated when my child plays in water and sand when he is not supposed to because i feared the workload of cleaning him.

The fear of cleaning made me  prevent him from enjoying the outdoors and am glad i realised it early so i do not have to feel guilty of locking his fun indoors. Don’t worry I now let him play with water and sand.

A little bit of sacrifice does not affect our entire life.

Do it for good and do it for the loved ones which will make every sacrifice well worth it.

Raison Detre : My Readers

The many days dream to write and be published

The many days wish to accomplish

Something to do with writing

Turned into a long hunt until one day it all stopped only to think, breathe and discover.

what exactly was i hunting?

Was it just the fame of being published?

I realised
that fame will never be achieved in this fast moving world where people keep developing and inventing.
Fame is not something you can run behind it chases us.
Then what am hunting? The reality of being a writer is not in just the platform it’s the truth that matters.
Unbiased content is what the world is longing for amidst many biased work online.
The one like you get on a post explains why people like it? Is it because of the pictures? Is it because of the words?

Or is it merely because they know you?

My Raison detre is the real readers who merely like my post maybe for the words or maybe for the title yet they like it even if i dont publish an image. The real readers are my raison detre.

The poem i write has an effect in someone but an image i post is merely nothing to the same person. Words are what is more powerful than anything.

The sandy beaches
Warm sunsets in winter
The cool fresh breeze
From the calm waves

The seasshells ashore
The salty splashes
The giggles and laughter
Of kids and adults

The tiny ships or boats
Busy food trucks
The cute shops
In the bicycle cart

Landing as a media
With a large badge
For the taster session
From all the food carts

Being welcomed with a big fat grin
And warm smile
The cresent that watched everything
From high up in the sky

The beach at jbr
Was packed and busy
The marketin one side
With kids play in another

It was when I told
My little boy
Come on let go to the beach

Ever since he started saying
Mummy lets go beach
The first time he told beach
In his wabbly speech

The water the sand and the wind
Is not all tha you see in a beach
It’s a place to sit
Relax and enjoy

A beach is a place where you live
Though another persons laughter
Another persons fun

The chirping of birds

While the sunrise

And the waves giggle

Enjoying the morning view

Along the sandy beaches

Is a rhythm

The postmans bell

And the letterbox movements

The chittering of a squirrel

running over the mango tree

Hunting for the ripe mangos

While the leaves rustle on the grass with a stick

When the crows caw

For the  cooking smell in the kitchen

Wondering what and how to reach the pot

The mynas random visit

To pick a few grains of rice

Which accidentally fell on the garden tile

Sharing with the fellow myna

Hastily gathering there feathers with a whistle

And rushing to fly away high

While we run to the window to check

The bees and butterflies

Fly around the wildflowers in the tiny garden

While they get a bit farther

For the splashing of water

Over the plamt pots

As the wind blows

The evening breeze kissing our cheeks

While the bell at the nearby temple goes on ding-dong ding-dong

The looting of horns

The laughter of kids

The scream of the teenagers

The shouting of the vegetable vendor

The bell of the kadala guy

While the kights go on

And the city prepare to rest

The hi and bye of little children and loud footsteps of kids after tuition

Everything is a Music for the explorer

Stop you will hear the music

Observe you will see the music

Listen you will enjoy the music

Everyday life is filled with music

The explorer never stops enjoying the life music

Life Scars

The faded tears of pain and hurt

The pains of labour rooms

The anger and frustration of taking care

The joy and beauty of being cared for

The joy of travel and food

The happiness is the happiness of kids

The guilty pleasure of letting go

The guilty joy of arguing

Everything from crawling kids

And even the neighbours

Everything in life has a scar

In a form of memory

Or even as an image

The happy scars and the sad scars

The only scars that never fade

Like those ceasar deliveries

The beaty of these jelly fish

The nature of there life

It is something to admire

A moment to put your phones down

Think and admire god creations

But unfortunately I had to pick my phone up

So that I can click an image and share it with the world

So that you can just enjoy a similar view as I

I even did video which will be uploaded soon

So you can just see

How they swim under water

With there round mushroom like body

Curved around and flat on  side

Inside they sure do have some wiggly hair

Which I may call it hair

As it was uncountable

The nature of the way things work

Is something to sit and admire every day
